Resumen

What is emergent language, and how can it be effectively used in the classroom? This session explores how affordances and emergent language offer real-time opportunities for learning. Participants will gain practical strategies, a new intervention framework, and insights into how working with EL supports deeper, more personalized language acquisition.

Leo Gomez, Learn YOUR English

Leo Gomez is a teacher educator, course designer, and co-founder of Learn YOUR English. He holds a Master’s in TESOL from the University of Birmingham and a Cambridge DELTA. His work focuses on Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), affordances in learning, responsive pedagogy, second language listening, and corpus-informed instruction. He has taught in seven countries, designed curricula for universities and colleges, and leads professional development grounded in communicative, action-oriented, and research-based approaches. Leo also hosts the Teacher Talking Time podcast, where he engages with leading scholars in applied linguistics and second language acquisition. He currently teaches at Seneca Polytechnic and Sheridan College.
