Abstract

ESL Presentations and speaking activities focus on organizing speech using ‘structuring language’. However, there is little emphasis on the speaker’s ability to chunk, pause, and pace speech to create an effective message. This session introduces ‘Soundscripting’, a technique using lexical chunking and prosodic features to help learners speak more dynamically.
