Abstract

It is said that learning English as a foreign language (L2 onwards) is synonymous with opening doors. If knowledge of Financial Competencies is added to this, people will be closer to having a better quality of life. This research was carried out among Finance students in a Mexican public university, aiming to review the effects of using a playful teaching strategy to develop financial skills. A type of experimental research was used to obtain and analyze data. The Payoff game was utilized. Two exams, one diagnostic and one subsequent, were used to measure the results of the control and experimental groups. A total of n=144 students participated. The results show that those in the experimental group saw their scores improve. This study suggests that a playful teaching strategy is an effective tool for learning financial skills.
